RiDER Power 2008 is the UK s largest biking survey and asks motorcycle owners a variety of questions about their machines and riding kit. According to the RiDER Power survey results, the new-for-2008 CBR1000RR Fireblade has become Britain s favourite bike and scored an impressive 92.19% satisfaction rating, showing that the people who bought it are delighted with its accessible power, sharp handling, outstanding build quality and overall usability.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said Wednesday that the fatal crash rate involving motorcycles equipped with optional antilock brakes, or ABS, was 38 percent lower than the rate involving similar motorcycles without the systems. Antilock brakes, like their counterparts on cars and trucks, help motorcycle riders stop their bikes abruptly without locking up the wheels or fishtailing.
That exhaustion was offset'somewhat by the grin this'swift'sport-touring motorcycle plastered across my face. But even that became a bit wearing, because in my time with the Concours 14, the grin'seldom faded. The Concours model, originally created to deliver long-distance comfort with a minimal'sacrifice of back-road prowess, has been in the Kawasaki line for more than two decades.

There's a new BMW for the road--but it has only two wheels. The Bavarian company has rolled out the K 1300'series of motorcycles. The K 1300 comes in S, R and GT variations. The K 1300'series is powered by a 1.3-liter inline-four. Output ratings range from 175 hp at 9,250 rpm for the K 1300 S, to 160 hp at 9,000 rpm for the K 1300 GT. Peak torque is 103 lb-ft for the S and R variants, and 99 lb-ft for the grand touring GT. The bike weighs about 560 pounds.
